The story of Janet Amu Foundation is a story of courage and resilience as personified by Madam Janet Ogbulodu Amu, nee Aniaku(1928 – 2016) who lived a life reflecting the belief of Anatole France that “Nine tenths of education is encouragement”, and that of Mark Twain that encourages us to, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” It was the strong belief of Late Madam Janet Amu in the value of education that propelled her to send her only two sons to school and stayed back in the farm alone to till the ground. This resilience and courage she exhibited emboldened illustrious son, Chief Marcel Ogbonna, Amu (Ozo Onwa-Netiri-Ora), a great scion of Elechi Owuru of Umundiukwu-Nua Village, Akutara-Enu Aku Autonomous Community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria to conceive the idea of setting up a Foundation in the name of his beloved mother, Janet.
